Hello, I am Janet Cagle, the music teacher at Woodrow Cummins Elementary. I have taught in Arkansas schools for thirty-five years--one in Pocahontas, eight in Benton, fifteen in Forrest City, and eleven in Conway. Except for two years as a fifth grade classroom teacher, during all of those years I have taught general music and choirs. While teaching in Forrest City, I was part of a trio of ladies who developed a curriculum for teaching economics through the study of Blues music. For that project we were awarded first place in a competition sponsored by the National Council on Economic Education. We enjoyed our all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C., where we were honored at a special banquet and reception. My B.S.E., M.S.E. and most of my post-graduate studies have been through U.C.A. Studying about the Orff process for teaching music has been most exciting and rewarding. I have the world's best husband, Mike. We enjoy being a part of Woodland Heights Baptist Church in Conway. One of my favorite hobbies is water skiing.
