I have been in education for 32 years. I've taught thirteen years in Special Education, three years as a math Coach, and sixteen years as a first grade teacher, which is where I currently teach. This is my fourth year in Conway. I received a BSE degree from Henderson State University in Arkadelphia and have done further studying at the University of Central Arkansas.
Tracy Lakey
Hi! My name is Tracy Lakey. I am a first grade teacher at Woodrow Cummins. I have taught for 9 years teaching 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. I am a graduate of Cabot High School. After graduation, I moved to Conway and attended the University of Central Arkansas and obtained my BSE in Early Childhood Education. I am happily married to my husband Chad and have two children, Bryce and Kyleigh. In my spare time I LOVE to travel and to read. I believe that teaching is a calling and I feel blessed to be able to say that I am a teacher!
Melinda Murtha
My name is Melinda Murtha and I teach first grade at Woodrow Cummins Elementary. I taught 4th grade for one year and have been teaching 1st grade for six years. I was chosen as Teacher of the Year at Woodrow Cummins for the 2011-2012 school year. I graduated from Bryant High School and have a B.S.E. in Early Childhood Education from Arkansas Tech University. During my spare time, I love to work in my yard, spend time with family, and read.
Dustin Smith
Mr. Dustin Smith is a 2003 graduate of the University of Central Arkansas. He is entering his ninth year of teaching. All of his experience has been at the first grade level. He was chosen as Teacher of the Year in 2005 and 2010. Mr. Smith is the creator of TeacherTipster.com! He maintains the website to help give new teachers a place to go for ideas and direction. He is happily married with his wife Suzy. Their 90 pound labradoodle, Duncan, rounds out the family. Mr. Smith enjoys playing the guitar, visiting family, finding new teaching ideas and reading books.
